gulpo

I run to nom and drink beer.

Instagram post 2164193399142310032_44313707 Cheers to another successful birthday run vacation. The torrential downpour the first 20 miles sucked and the 80+humidity for the last six was worse. Hit the wall early and hard. Still, finished and don't feel broken... Yet. Time to rest up and then turn to LA Marathon.
Instagram post 2163548711246817825_44313707 With my training behind me, pizza turning into fuel, and beer purged from my system, I'm now ready to rest up for the Marine Corps Marathon. 12 hours from now I'll have the privilege of running through the capitol with thousands of service men and women. Pray for 15780. USA! USA! USA!
Instagram post 2162205376397582715_44313707 Well, I guess we do have a trophy but really want the MLS cup
Instagram post 2133902256819161922_44313707 Been awhile since I've posted about my running and with the Marine Corps Marathon in a few weeks:
1 & 2 were training runs from this weekend. Friday was a miserable 80 even though I was on the road before 7. Today, much nicer and way more enjoyable
3 From the Santa Monica Classic 10k, I always love the views and run way faster than I wanted.
4 AFC this year had great weather and I killed that final climb! Also ran with the crew of Anchorman
5 Another training run but this was to Pasadena... And yet I ended up at Mt Lowe brewing for bingo.
6 how did I miss LA marathon? I found a few encouraging friends along the course and finished injury free. My time wasn't my best but considering how much pain I was in during the last half of 2018, I'm okay with that. Cheers to more miles! 🍻
Instagram post 2096751798875180057_44313707 The ultra rare Stamp Day! The USPS held a ceremony at JPL today for the stamp dedication of the 1969: First Moon Landing Forever Stamps. One shows the first humans to land on the moon and the second shows the landing site. Also picked up a sheet of the Sally Ride ones
Instagram post 2095342568054054335_44313707 Pin day! This time it is an awesome one commemorating the DSN's role in the Apollo 11 mission. Next to it I've added the 50th Anniversary pin. The DSN is one of the more important roles that JPL operates and the reason we claim that our Space Flight Operations Facility is the "center of the universe".
Instagram post 2082382404631977054_44313707 To the generous fellow @pasadenapacers: cheers and thanks!
Instagram post 2076515706536344998_44313707 Came back from vacation to two great pieces of news:
1) #EuropaClipper passed our deltaPDR 🍻
2) New lanyard!
Instagram post 2045275751831249464_44313707 Banner sums up what Clipper's mission is. JPL is almost ready for open house this weekend. Please don't rearrange my bobbleheads this year.
Instagram post 2022656501222813328_44313707 From a week ago but finally got around to syncing my watch. Running across the Golden gate bridge is always the main draw to this race. I love feeling the ocean breeze, seeing the skyline, and just taking in how little we all are in the grand scheme of things. Despite the challenging hills and seemingly endless final flat miles, I enjoy this race from beginning to end. I tried to run at my previous half marathon pace but just don't have the speed yet. I started to feel a bit of a pull in my right leg so I eased off and finished just over 2hours. It'll do. Hoping I can get sub 2 again in SD but my legs may say otherwise. Cheers!
Instagram post 2016475307720571869_44313707 This time I had two weeks between LA marathon and my next half. Feeling quite rested and ready to tackle the bridge and hills tomorrow. Not so excited about the 6am start but totally worth it. Naturally, I've had a few pints. Cheers!
Instagram post 2006394747585573122_44313707 I've done the hard work and considering how broken I felt the second half of last year, I'd say getting this far is pretty big for me. So grateful to be able to run this city for the past three years. Here's hoping the fourth is just as amazing as the first. Cheers!
